Listed below are the criteria for the 2009 Jigonsaseh Women of Peace Awards. This year we will honor 5 local women of peace. There are many ways to promote peace and nominations of activists as well as artists, educators and organizers are invited.

Award Criteria:

Lifelong Award:

The two women honored with this award will have demonstrated 25+years of peace work and organizing through various projects and initiatives. Their work focuses on, includes and affects the local WNY community and may include international outreach.
Current Peace work

The two recipients of this award are currently active in the local peace making community and/or peace keeping activities.

The Emerging Peace Award:

The one recipient of this award is just starting out on the path of peace and action. Their activities to promote peace in their individual lives, families, communities, Nations and internationally will be considered.

Self nominations are not eligible.

Please write a 300-500 word biography explaining why you are nominating this person for a Women of Peace Award. Nominee Biography: In addition to nominating you are needed to arrange transportation to and attendance at IWI’s 9/19/09 10-4 Jigonsaseh Event at Buffalo State College in the event your nominee is selected. The information you provide will be used in the Jigonsaseh brochure for awardees.
